I've been playing with the Playbook, and i was pleasantly surprised how well its designed and the gestures are fairly intuitive .. the big downside is NO APPS ... i mean there are a couple available on the market .. but all of them are fairly useless to me... plus the market definitely missing free apps .. like android market ...
lets see how it will play out when BB releases Android Emulator in couple of months

I got tired of all the issues that outlook has , so i went back to the native Mail client ...

Outlook for MAC what a failure!

Just tried trial version of Office 2011 , all works well accept Outlook , the functionality that i cam ego expect form it on windows is just not there .. no way to sync with google apps, i mean come on ...
and as usual Microsoft sprays all its content everywhere in the machine .. so i'll be looking at removing outlook from my mac and using default Lion mail .. its not bad at all!

while i got used to debian's Synaptic, the APP Store on a mac is weird to me. NONE of the programs that i use on daily bases is on it:
VitrualBox
Keepass
truecrypt
pidgin

i mean .. wtf? these are important programs ... and like on windows i would need to keep track myself of all the updates or even worse .. have an update tracking program for each ... I loved the concept of Synaptic doing it all for me!

i guess developers would need for fork out $100 just to be an apple developer and then post it on the store .. for free & open source software thats steep price ...

so what do we have on the app store ... ohh GREAT Angry birds ... wtf?
I have mixed feeling about this!

I finally got my MacBook Air today, and as much as i hate the way Apple forces you to do things .. this machine is awesome!!!
Lets recap : i have ViewSonic GTablet, i've managed to get HoneyComb on it .. but its still too heavy ... and don't get me started on typing on that dinosaur.. its just not practical!
MacAir weights roughly the same . and has full keyboard (i'm typing on the train now) .. as well as full blown out OS (not cut down android)

First impression : i like it ... it even integrates really well with Ms Exchange .. i makes me feel that my Debian machine is a poor cousin of the apple in that respect.

Lets see how i go with this thing for the next couple of months

as for gPad ... need to find a new use for it

www.eCoffeeCard.com.au , has released an app that allows you to keep track of coffee's that you've bought. Seems like a good idea. BUT .... here is where the flaw is ... you scan a publicly available barcode image ... ummm

so when I've used a normal barcode scanner on it what did i find ?

After trying different tools , i found Pencil Project , its like a cut down version of Visio and the price is great : FREE
Ohh and the most important thing is multi platform so runs on Linux and windows. Love this

Australian market as i see it

After attending 2 conferences and writing an app that I've deployed on 3 markets ( android, iStore, blackberry ) it seems that android is on everyone's mind. It's still nowhere near the levels of interest that android has in USA. It feels like we are 12 month behind. In addition phone producers the likes of HTC, Samsung do not do enough advertising in comparison to Apple.
So far everyone is going for the safe market 'iStore', and only after 12 months or so starts looking at other market.
Disappointing!!!
